Hearts 'n Pieces had its first meeting on May 2, 2001. It
was started by two friends: Kathy Glover and Karen Chiles, who thought
Tracy, California could benefit from the formation of a quilt guild. They
wanted to meet other quilters, have fun, and help the children in the
community. The membership is small, but we have accomplished quite a bit.
During the first year, we made over 50 quilts for the
children living at McHenry House, the local shelter for homeless families.
We have made three different opportunity quilts for the local Wal-Mart, we
split the profits; Wal-Mart's half goes to the Children's Miracle Network
and the Tracy Quilt Guild's half went back into the children's fund to make
more quilts and help children-in-need.
We meet every Thursday evening from 6:00 to
9:00 at Grace Church, 1330 N. Tracy Blvd, Tracy, California. The first
Thursday is our general meeting, the second Thursday is a free sew night,
the third Thursday is our community sew night and the rest of the Thursdays
are free sew. Visitors are always welcome , so please come by and visit us.
